Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 slices brioche bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon (divided)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Cut the Brioche: Cut each brioche slice into 9 small squares, creating bite-sized pieces perfect for air frying.
  2. Prepare Egg Mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs until lightly beaten. Add the milk, vanilla extract, ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt; whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and generously spray the basket with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Dip Bread Squares: Dip each brioche square into the egg mixture for about 5 seconds on each side. Only dip as many as will fit in the basket without crowding to ensure even cooking.
  5. Air Fry: Arrange the coated pieces in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Air fry for 5 to 8 minutes, or until the bites are golden brown and crisp on the outside.
  6. Prepare Cinnamon-Sugar Coating: While the bites cook, mix the remaining ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon with the granulated sugar in a small bowl.
  7. Coat the Bites: As soon as the French toast bites come out of the air fryer, toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture so they’re evenly coated and beautifully sticky.
  8. Repeat with Remaining Bread: Repeat the dipping, air frying, and coating process with the remaining bread squares until all are cooked.
  9. Serve: Serve the French toast bites warm, optionally garnished with powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh fruit, or a combination of all three for a deliciously indulgent breakfast or snack.

Notes

  • For best results, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  • You can substitute brioche with challah or any thick, soft bread if preferred.
  • Adjust cinnamon and sugar quantity to taste.
  • Serve immediately for the best crispness; leftovers can be reheated briefly in the air fryer.
  • Maple syrup adds a lovely sweetness complementing the cinnamon-sugar coating.
