Ingredients

Scale

Sauce and Cheese Base

  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan cheese

Other Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Shredded chicken (rotisserie recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Roux: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a small skillet on medium-high heat, melt the butter completely. Whisk in the flour to form a smooth roux, which will thicken the sauce.
  2. Add Garlic and Milk: Stir in the minced garlic, then slowly whisk in the milk until the mixture becomes smooth. Reduce the heat to low, ensuring the sauce simmers gently without burning.
  3. Create Creamy Alfredo Sauce: Add the cream cheese to the skillet and stir continuously until the sauce is creamy and free of lumps.
  4. Incorporate Cheese and Chicken: Mix in 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, grated parmesan, shredded chicken, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir everything until ingredients are well combined into a thick, flavorful dip.
  5. Top and Bake: Transfer the dip into an oven-safe baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until the cheese melts and becomes golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with crostini, steamed broccoli, or your choice of fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • Using rotisserie chicken saves time and adds great flavor.
  • Feel free to substitute part of the mozzarella with provolone for a different flavor profile.
  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently in the oven or microwave before serving.
