5 from 83 reviews

Crispy Air Fryer Apple Fries are a delightful and healthy snack option, featuring apple wedges coated in cinnamon-sugar-spiced panko breadcrumbs and air fried to golden perfection. Perfectly crisp on the outside with tender, sweet apple inside, these fries are great served with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety)

Coating

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Cooking spray

Dipping Sauce (Optional)

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Peel the apples if desired, then slice into 1/2 inch thick wedges, removing the core and seeds. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar and set aside for coating and finishing.
  2. Set Up the Breading Station: Arrange three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  3. Coat the Apple Slices: Dredge each apple wedge in flour, shake off excess, dip into the beaten eggs, then press into the cinnamon-sugar breadcrumb mixture until evenly coated. Repeat for all slices.
  4. Preheat and Arrange: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes. Arrange coated apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Lightly spray with cooking spray to promote crispiness.
  5. Air Fry Until Crispy: Cook the apple fries at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. Watch closely near the end to achieve a golden-brown, crunchy exterior.
  6. Sprinkle and Serve: Immediately after cooking, sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture over the hot fries. Serve warm with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.

Notes

  • Peeling the apples is optional; keeping the skin adds extra texture and fiber.
  • Work in batches when air frying to avoid overcrowding and ensure crispiness.
  • Adjust air frying time based on your air fryer’s heat distribution.
  • Substitute panko breadcrumbs with regular breadcrumbs if needed, but panko gives a lighter, crunchier coating.
  • Try different apple varieties like Honeycrisp or Fuji for varying sweetness and tartness.
  • For a healthier twist, use vanilla yogurt instead of caramel sauce as a dipping option.
