Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Sauce

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cubed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Thickening and Garnish

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water (to mix with cornstarch)
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Place the cubed chicken thighs into the crockpot. Add the soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Stir gently to combine the ingredients evenly.
  2. Cook: Set the crockpot to low heat and cook the chicken mixture for 4 hours, allowing the flavors to meld and the chicken to become tender.
  3. Thicken Sauce: About 30 minutes before the cooking time is up, mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water until smooth. Stir this mixture into the crockpot to thicken the sauce.
  4. Finish Cooking: Continue cooking for the remaining 30 minutes until the sauce has thickened and the chicken is fully cooked through.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the chicken before serving for added texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use boneless, skinless chicken thighs for optimal tenderness and flavor retention in the slow cooker.
  • You can customize sweetness by adjusting the amount of honey according to your taste.
  • For a lower sodium option, use low-sodium soy sauce.
  • Serve the chicken over steamed rice or with sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix in cornstarch earlier and add a little more water to adjust consistency as needed.
