Fried Ice Cream Delight is a fun and indulgent dessert featuring crispy, golden-fried ice cream balls coated in a crunchy cinnamon-sugar cornflake crust. Served immediately with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and maraschino cherries, this treat offers a delightful contrast of warm and cold textures with a burst of sweet flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Ice Cream

  • 950 ml vanilla ice cream

Coating

  • 60 g cornflakes, crushed
  • 6 g ground cinnamon
  • 25 g granulated sugar

Frying

  • 950 ml vegetable oil

Toppings (Optional)

  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Shape Ice Cream Balls: Scoop vanilla ice cream into uniform balls and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking tray. Freeze the balls until they are very firm, at least 2 hours, to ensure they hold shape during frying.
  2. Prepare Coating Mixture: In a shallow dish, combine the crushed cornflakes, ground cinnamon, and granulated sugar thoroughly to create a flavorful, crunchy coating.
  3. Coat Ice Cream: Roll each frozen ice cream ball in the cornflake mixture, pressing gently to ensure complete coverage for a crisp crust. Place the coated balls back into the freezer for an additional 30 minutes to firm up the coating.
  4. Heat Oil: In a deep-fryer or heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat the vegetable oil to 190°C (375°F), making sure it reaches the correct temperature for quick frying without soaking the coating.
  5. Fry Ice Cream: Carefully lower one or two coated ice cream balls into the hot oil and fry briefly for 15–30 seconds, just until the cornflake crust turns golden brown and crispy, while the ice cream inside remains frozen.
  6. Drain and Serve: Immediately transfer the fried ice cream balls onto a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve right away topped with whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, and a maraschino cherry for a delightful presentation and delicious taste.

Notes

  • Ensure the ice cream balls are very firm before frying to prevent melting.
  • Maintain the oil temperature at 190°C for best results; too low and the coating will absorb oil, too high and the coating may burn.
  • Work quickly when frying and serving to maintain crispy exterior and cold interior.
  • Use a slotted spoon or spider strainer to safely remove ice cream balls from hot oil.
  • This recipe is best served immediately for optimal texture and flavor.
