Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Seasonings

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup thinly sliced green onions
  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)

Vegetables and Oil

  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 pound shredded Brussels sprouts
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Sauce and Garnish

  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1/2 of a lime, juiced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef and aromatics: Add the ground beef to a large skillet and crumble it over medium-high heat. Stir in the thinly sliced green onions, sprinkling with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, garlic powder, sriracha (if using), and low sodium soy sauce. Cook until the beef is fully browned and no longer pink. Once done, transfer the cooked beef mixture onto a plate and set aside.
  2. Sauté the Brussels sprouts: In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of avocado oil. Add the shredded Brussels sprouts and season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Sauté over medium heat until the Brussels sprouts become soft and develop a caramelized golden color, about 7–10 minutes.
  3. Combine beef and Brussels sprouts with sauce: Return the cooked ground beef mixture back to the skillet with the Brussels sprouts. Pour in the sweet chili sauce and freshly squeezed lime juice. Stir everything together thoroughly, allowing the sauce to evenly coat the beef and Brussels sprouts. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes to meld the flavors.
  4. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Serve warm over steamed rice, quinoa, or your favorite grain for a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase the amount of sriracha or add a pinch of red pepper flakes when cooking the beef.
  • Substitute the sweet chili sauce with teriyaki or hoisin sauce for different flavor profiles.
  • Shredded Brussels sprouts can be replaced with halved or quartered if preferred chunkier texture.
  • To make the recipe gluten-free, ensure the soy sauce is tamari or gluten-free variety.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed jasmine rice, cauliflower rice, or quinoa for a complete meal.
