Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)

Filling

  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella and cheddar blend)
  • 1/4 cup fresh herbs (chopped, such as parsley or chives)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Finishing

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the puff pastry evenly.
  2. Prepare filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella and cheddar blend, chopped fresh herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until you get a smooth and creamy filling.
  3. Cut pastry: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet. Cut it into approximately 3-inch squares, making sure the edges are clean for sealing.
  4. Fill and fold: Place about one tablespoon of the cheese and herb filling in the center of each pastry square. Fold the corners over the filling to form a triangle shape and press the edges together, sealing firmly with a fork to prevent leakage.
  5. Prepare for baking: Arrange the stuffed pastry bites evenly spaced on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Beat the egg and brush it lightly over the top of each pastry for a beautiful golden shine.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, keep the puff pastry cold until ready to work with to prevent it from becoming too soft or sticky.
  • You can customize the herb blend by adding dill, basil, or thyme according to your preference.
  • Serve these bites warm for optimal flavor and texture.
  • If desired, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling for a slight kick.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
